Supposedly with a tuner, exhaust and intake those 6.4s get WAY better mileage. Ive read some as high as the 20s. Even so, 8 mpg is just wrong. I have a buddy with a 4X4 F450 Crew dually. He has 4.88 gearing in the axles, I believe. Even he gets 12-13 mpg. Ouch thats bad. For the first time in months, maybe even over a year, I filled up from empty for under $100. Diesel is down to $2.99/gal here.

RE: big bore kits

I forget about those Cylinder Works kits. They are basically the same as Athena only a little cheaper. Havent heard any problems on them. Several people on z400central use them with no issues. Im kinda wanting to pay close attention to this thread since it seems I was just recruited to help my buddy build a stroker for his 450r.

RE: Winter projects?

We dont have much of a winter here. Probably just gonna check/replace bearings and bushings. Get that 450r carb mounted up and check specs on everything.

RE: Does Polarass still suck???

Polaris has been impressing me lately....that new 850 is suppose to be a beast. The Razr S is just badass for what it is. And the 2 525 sport bikes they have are pretty impressive.

Sure will....Those new Duramaxs are tuning out some KILLER numbers with only about $1500 into em. 500+hp can be easily reached. I know the new Ford 6.4 is able to get over 500hp on exhaust, intake and tuner. Pretty damn impressive.

RE: big bore kits

Are you doing the work yourself? If so that will save you ALOT of money. What year is your 450r? Since you mentioned a 480 kit(compared to the 490kit for the 06 and ups) I'll assume its an 04/05. Odds are, since from what I understand this was a problem with those years, your crank bearings are shot which will require you to split the cases to repair. Now if you're bent on building something quick and it is indeed the crank bearings that are gone replace your crank with a 3mm stroker crank from Hotrods. This will bump you up to a 471. Paired with a nice cam, port work, and a stock bore cylinder it will rip AND have a nice sleeper look since the motor looks stock from the outside. If you want to get really carried away you could go with the 3mm stroker AND a big bore kit. Athena makes one of the best BBK available. Their kit replaces your stock cylinder and piston. The benefits of going with this kit versus the conventional steel sleeve kit (from Weisco I believe) where you have to take your stock cylinder to a machinist and have the sleeve installed. Also the Athena has larger passages for coolant allowing for better flow keeping the engine cooler. Pull your head and you should be able to tell what your problem is...if your cylinder/piston/head is trashed then you should be ok with a top end rebuild....if the piston/head/cylinder look ok then its most likely crank bearings.

RE: Red Bull Soap Box Race Denver (Red Rocks Amphitheater)

Looks cool...Red Bull seems to have a few of these semi-wacky contest that I wouldnt mind checking out. Ive seen this one as well as the one where they try to fly off some platform. Looks like it would be fun to watch.

On the 7.3 I'll be ok. Its those 6.0s you have to watch the heads on. At most I'll add a Wicked Wheel to compensate for turbo surge and then a vavle body on the tranny. Good to see you back....whats done to the D-Max?

They look nice. For the little bit of time I did have Razr MXs on my Z they hooked very well. Are you worried about clearance?
